Im thinking of buying a vauxhall nova for my first car and I have seen lots of reports about them being a chav's car so Im having second thoughts? It is not modified at all but what do you think? Will it have cheapish inscurance for a 17 year old female driver.
i know that they used to be seen as chavy but are they still seen in this way

Novas now fall into the class of retro imo. Nova GTE/SR were boy racers car back in the day, original novas were more of a granny chariot.

Id rather be seen in a retro motor than some knackered banger tho. A younger corsa or the like ,would just be another crappy car on the road,a Nova would definitely turn a few heads.

Plus when it comes to selling it on,correctly promoted, you will find more of a market for an original nova than you would for a slightly younger corsa or similar.

A Nova? Come on Emma, where would you park it ? No where near your home or your family would be so embarrassed. Buy a Corsa like so many other 17 year old new drivers, it is a far better car {which does not say much for the Nova].

Insurance may be a little more than say an equivalent Corsa as older cars are more easy to write off due to lack of and expensive body parts.

Not chavvy now really. Just looks like you can only afford a £200 car is all.

Since last year it has been illegal in the UK for insurers to discriminate in prices between males and females so both pay the same.

Hi yes i see the connection now between a nova and a chav well cheap just about says it all really at least 20 years old so a money pit as well..
